I ‘survived’ all my exams here, but I have to admit they were harder than I expected. After our last test we (Narine and I) went with our flatmates on tapas tour. We also decided that we should drink cocktails at 1 p.m. and it was possible! After our tapas tour we had to say goodbye to Hamish (our English flatmate).

Before the tapas tour we already packed all our stuff and did the last things we had to do. In the afternoon we went to the boulevard to see the sea for the last time. In the evening we had dinner with Jelmer, Anneline, Alexander, Kata, Narine and me. Our left over Dutch/Belgium group with Kata as our Hungarian friend. We actually went to a ‘normal’ restaurant for the first time in 5 months. I didn’t even know there was a normal one in Almería.

In the evening Narine and I threw our last botellon in our ‘casa’. The whole flat was full of people and this time the police came ☹. But don’t worry, we went to La Clásica for the last time. It was a really good party and almost everyone I know was there. But it was also hard to see eveyone and to say goodbye to everyone during the night. We became such a close group of friends from around the world.

The next day Narine and I had to say goodbye to Liam (our Irish flatmate) and his girlfriend. It was really a weird idea to never see Hamish or Liam again.. But, I think we will see them again because we had the best flat I could imagine. Also Simeon (our American friend in the same building) came to say goodbye to us. At the bus stop we said to our closest friends goodbye and we (Anneline, Narine and I) really left Almería. And to be honest, I really didn’t want to go.

When I had to leave The Netherlands for Spain I was a bit afraid it would be hard to be in a country when I don’t even speak the language. But at the end, it was one of the best adventures of my life. I loved getting to know people from around world and the cultural differences. But also living with my flatmates was amazing. Almería felt like home to me and I’m sure I will go back (next summer probably). My group of friends felt like family to me and I’m sure I will see them again. Especially the Dutch and German people will stay in touch.

Some people say to me they can’t imagine to go away for a longer time. Well, I can’t imagine you don’t want to go away for a longer time.

Almería, nunca se rinde!
