LISBOA
Together with my flatmates, we went to Lisbon with ESN! I was really looking forward to this trip, because I never visited Portugal. It was 13hour drive by bus to Lisbon. But we survived, I even won with bingo! It also helped that we were driving by night, so we could sleep a bit.
We stayed in a really nice hostel in the centre of Lisbon. During the first day we did a city tour with ESN. It was nice to see the city and see where we were staying. We also visited a castle, Castillo San Jorge. It had a really nice view over the city. At night we had a botellon somewhere in the centre, because in Portugal it is legal to drink on the streets. And so we did!
The next day we went to Sintra. It was a kind of palace named Quinta da Regaleira. The palace is on the World Heritage Site of UNESCO. It really was beautiful to walk around and see gardens. After visiting Sintra, we went to Cabo da Roca. This is a sort of the same thing as Cabo de Gata, but different. We saw the sunset there, so it was a nice ending of the day. Back in the hostel we all loved the hot showers (cause we don’t have that in Almería). At night we had another botellon in the centre and after the botellon we went to a party of ESN Lisbon. At the party were a lot of other erasmus students from other cities of Spain. We even met other Dutchies and it was nice to meet some new people.
After two hours of sleep it was time to discover more of Lisbon. We went to a monastery: Monasterio dos Jerónimos. I have to admit, I was too tired to be really interested in the monastery. But it was a nice building. After the monastery we went to a monument and a sort of castle at sea. We also ate the typical Portuguese pastries. At night we had a huge dinner with the hole group and free drink and so it ended in a party. After the botellon we went to Bario Alto. Here are many bars, but they closed quite early.
On Monday morning we went back to Almería. The weekend was the best ESN trip so far and Lisbon was just amazing. At 2 a.m. I was back in my flat and had to pack my back for the next trip: Morocco.
Hasta luego!
